 Why Take It Up a Level?
Today's economy is starting to turn around, but for now it means more work, using the same number of people.

All day long ideas are thrown our way and we are expected to complete them in short order. Prioritization is based on how the task falls on our list, the fire of the day, or who made the request. Short timeframes mean little time to fully understand the request and the ability to address it strategically.

Take It Up a Level
It's time to look past the fires and create a strategy roadmap. Just recently, the WSJ wrote about the personal cost of being overworked and how to corral and tame your work—collect all the items demanding your attention; identify the desired outcome; define the next actions and focus on those.

With a strategy roadmap, everyone works together to reach the same destination. The tasks required to fulfill the strategy come first, the others are second.
